Stuffed baby cuttlefish

Some time back, j.t. was saying she didn't know what to do with minced meat other than making hamburgers for grilling..I remembered saying that I'll post one of the dish that I made using minced meat, Stuffed Baby Cuttlefish (sorry for the poor pic, if u can find the bb cuttlefish, its right at the bottom hehe)

Stuffed Baby Cuttlefish

Ingredients:
Baby Cuttlefish
500g Minced meat (I used pork, can be chicken too)
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp sugar
dash of sesame (to taste)
1/2 Onion, sliced
2 cloves Garlic, minced
Thai Sweet Chili Sauce (4/5 tbsp or to taste)

Method:
A. Preparing the stuffed baby cuttlefish
1. Wash and clean the baby cuttlefish
2. Marinate minced meat with salt, sugar, sesame oil
3. Stuff marinated meat in the baby cuttlefish
4. Steam the stuffed baby cuttlefish for about 20 mins or till done

I added imitation crabmeat as I have too few baby cuttlefish left :) you can even use a whole big cuttle fish, just cut it up into rings after steaming and re-arrange on plate

B. Preparing the sauce
1. Add oil, when hot, fry onion, garlic
2. Add Thai sweet chili sauce, let it heat up till hot

Pour the hot sweet chili sauce over the steamed baby cuttlefish, serve hot. Done!

simple and easy isnt it, j.t.? ;P Hope you enjoy it

Perfect Stranger

"The One" enjoy watching thriller/crime movie, me? as long as there isn't any "coming out of nowhere ghost" or screaming scene, i'm fine :P I'm more timid hehe so we came across this DVD movie "Perfect stranger" starring Halle Berry (both of us do like her, esp her role in "Catwoman") and Bruce Willis

I have to say, critics have not been really giving it a good review but for me personally, not considering movie techniques or really critical stuffs to make it a good movie, I personally did enjoy the movie.

Halle played the role of a reporter Rowena Price, who learns that her friend's murder may be connected to powerful ad executive Harrison Hill (played by Bruce), she goes undercover posing as Katherine. The closer we get to learning the truth, the more surprises we get..Everyone is a Stranger..Everyone have secrets, at every turn, at every corner, there are moments of surprises, twists and turns that just kept us glued to our chairs..just as if you're on a 'roller coaster ride' :)

If you just wanna have some fun, chill out, go along with the flow of the movie, this is one worth watching on the DVD, with popcorns or pizza on hand.. :)

Hairspray

I always enjoyed musicals and watching musical movies ("Grease", "Sound of music", "Dorothy and the wizard of Oz", "Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory", "Moulin Rouge"...)

"The One" and I caught the musical movie "Hairspray" a few days ago. Well, musical movies either you like it or you don't. Critics have said 'this is the musical movie of the 21st century'..if you like the movie "Grease" or enjoy musical, you will like this movie.

The characters that I enjoyed in the movie include John Travolta (Edna), Michelle Pfeiffer (Velma), Tracey (Nikki Blonsky) and her crush, Link (Zac Efron). John Travolta, I was not surprised at his musical talent (if you have seen him in "Grease"); When he portray Edna, he gave Edna a 'really womanly portrait' of a voluptuous, curvy, woman :) Michelle came out with a strong performance as Velma, she surprises me with her ability to sing and act esp in one of the scene where she tried to seduce Enda's husband...while Nikki (who used to work behind the counter in an ice cream parlour), she was picked from over eleven hundred candidates to play this role of Tracey; Nikki, she's really a natural and has a good voice too. As for Link..well, just put it this way, he is a 'cute, cool looking' guy..comparable to John Travolta in his younger days :)

so if you're looking for a relaxing time, listening to some nice musics and have some laughs..this is one movie I'll go for :) Happy watching!

Art with a "voice"

"The One" showed me a link to the "People of the web-strokes of genius" which shows a young artist, Phil hansen who does his art works in a 'unique' way. Eg of his arts include a 'painting' a portrait of Bruce lee using karate chops, a portrait of Nth Korean Kim Jong using first aid plasters and 500cc of his own blood.

This Art with a "Voice" showing George Bush is one of his unique art piece (just click on the arrow on video to watch).

If you want to see a short video clip of his many art works, follow this link http://potw.news.yahoo.com/s/potw/23115/strokes-of-genius/

Phil has his own website: http://www.philinthecircle.com

Arts in any form can be thought-provoking and they convey a msg so subtly yet so powerful.

Happy Birthday Singapore!

Today is the birthday of our little red dot..

Happy 42nd birthday my dear Singapore!

I woke up early today to catch the Live Webcast of our National day parade. This year it is a little different, not at the National stadium but at Marina Bay.

National day always makes me feel so close to home. For the past years, there will be a theme song. This year, the theme song is 'There's no place I'd rather be - sang by Kit Chan' (click on arrow to view the MTV of the song)

No matter where I go, I'm always proud to say I'm a Singaporean..Thats for real and for sure. No matter how far I've gone, how many places I've been, ure still the home I long to be; Where my family and friends grew up with me..U'll always be a part of me.

Once again, Happy birthday Singapore.

First card from my nephews :)

Received a parcel from home some time back, and keep telling myself I'll share with you guys a little something in the parcel that is very 'heart warming'...but keep forgetting until my kiddo bro, put it up in his blog. Kiddo, see I have one made by Max too (with love from all our 3 nephews, Max, Zander and Caden) to "Yi Yi" (thats what they called me by - younger sister of your mommy) with some help from his mommy (that is our jie jie) :) So thank you Max and jie jie too...this little cutie is now being put up on my fridge

Hey, kiddo, mine is prettier huh :P

The other day "The One" and I called and my jie jie was getting the nephews ready to go to the zoo..I got to speak with my 2+ old nephew, Max...

Max: hello yiyi, we going zoo
Me: oh wow ure going to the zoo? what are u going to see in the zoo? Tigers?
Max: oh sure
Me: lions?
Max: oh yes
Me: are u going to see zebras too?
Max: oh yes, sure, black and white and I will count. yiyi when u coming back, go to zoo?

ahh...so sweet..I do miss the nephews, esp Max whom I used to carry, read, sing and play with. Wonder if he will still remember the times we shared when he grows up..

Phone Bill and "The One" first ice-crushed smoothie

Had a "fight" with the phone company again..for billing problem..sigh..y like that. Have you guys ever encounter having one customer service rep tell u one things and the next time you call back, another customer rep tells u another things (on the same issue). You simply cant trust the words of the rep. How bad is that?!

Back home, u can go to the store and speak FACE TO FACE with the customer rep, and over here, they have only "over the phone" service. Each time u called, a different rep will answer ur queries and there's no way u can request to speak to the same rep whom you spoke to earlier (even if its just like 10-15 mins ago)!! Duh, what sort of customer service is this??

Anyway, "The One" and I went down to the store to make our payment and hopefully next month billing will be correct.

These 2 days has been sooo hot..Temperature hitting around 38oC with the humidex. Air con has been blasting, "The One" suddenly said, "lets go get a blender, can make smoothie" hahaha..Ok lah, since he is so enthusiastic about making smoothie, lets go! :)

After spending just 10 mins browsing through the different blenders in the mall, we got ourselves this 'black and decker' blender (which comes with a 'ice crasher option' :) Happily, we went home and "The One" cant wait to made us our first home made 'ice-crushed strawberry and banana smoothie' :)

it sure tasted yummy (we each have like 3 glasses!! can you believe it?? hahaha) Lets hope "The One" will continue with his enthusiastic to make me more smoothies huh ;P or it will be a '3 min hottie thing' for him? I have a feeling, it will end up with me making the smoothies instead.. hehehe

Keep cool!
