Tagged! - IF I have $1,000,000........

Got tagged by yenjai

IF I have $1,000,000.00...............

What will I do with this much 000000s?? ok think think think...

1. Buy a house first
2. Give some to our parents n siblings
3. Put some in retirement fund (no need pay tax and can earn interest too), Put some in bonds, mutal funds, fixed deposit (have to save some for our 'future' children too right? rear children not cheap now...)

After a year or 2 with the 'earned interest', "The One" mentioned before that if we can afford, every month with the earned interest, can take some portion and give to charity..hopefully with good planning, down the road, we can afford to buy other houses (rent out and earn income too :P) or buy a newstand/canada post franchise (employ people to work for us) and every year the whole family can go holiday at least once all together :)

Meanwhile, "The One" and I will still be working..just that this time we might be able to 'semi-retire' earlier at say 40-45 years old, after which, we can still continue to work part time instead hehehe

So there u go..IF winniethepooh have $1,000,000........... life will be a little more 'set' and I'll be dreaming of the day when my six 0s ($1,000,000) will become seven or eight 0s hehehehe;)

As usual, I wont tag anyone, but if anyone will like to share your 'dream' with us, ure most welcome to yeah!! :)

Tagged! - Music Shuffle

Am tagged by j.t. to do this Music shuffle tag..so here it goes...

Rules: To play this, you need an Ipod or Mp3 player with a "shuffle" feature that allows random shuffling among all the music stored on it. You can even do this on your computer music library, like iTunes, if it’ll let you shuffle.Answer each question by shuffling to the next song to see what song comes up...and there’s the answer to your question!

Since I told j.t. my ipod is mainly Chinese songs..I'll do a translation of them (to my best, ok) :P so please do forgive me if they are badly done :)

1. How does the world see me? 爱得正好by 苏永康,陈洁仪 (loving just right)
This is a duet love song about 2 lovers looking for love..

一定是潮水的魔力让海岸也无能为力就当是生命中的奇迹改变了天涯海角的距离
(it must be the magic of the tide, that even the land cant do anything. lets see this as a miracle of life that changes the distance of the beginning and the end of the world)

True true.."The One" and I did see this as a a relationship that overcome the ocean and land :P in this sense, do the world see me as being in a loving relationship? :) well..yeah, i agree hehehe

2. Will I have a happy life? 被风吹过的夏天 by 林俊杰/金莎 (The summer that was blown by the wind)
how has this got to do with a happy life? guess i'll just have to enjoy the four seasons in my life and make sure with each passing seasons, I make the most of my memories to make this a happy life...:) (and stop complaining about the cold cold winter? hahaha)

3. What do my friends really think of me? 眼泪 by 范晓萱 (tears)
Now now..do you guys see me as a crying baby or what??!! hahahaha
okok, actually it ain't all that bad ok..just let me explain. As you know, this song will be about tears

眼泪都是我的体会成长的滋味oh 眼泪忍住眼泪不让你看见我在改变孤单的感觉你从不曾发现我笑中还有泪
(tears are the essence of my growth, I try to hold back my tears, not to let you see me cry. To see me change, the lonely feeling, you wont know that behind my laughter there are tears)

So it does in a way, describes how I do feel at this moment..alot of laughter, alot of tears..they are all part of my growing..I guess u guys see me cry like a shower at the airport gate huh :P but dont worry, tears make me grow up too and the good thing? They make my eyes pretty too! hehehe

4. Do people secretly lust after me? What a wonderful world by Louis Armstrong (the only English song that i shuffled!) hahaha

The colors of a rainbow.....so pretty ..in the sky
Are there on the faces.....of people ..going by
I see friends shaking hands.....sayin.. how do you do They're really sayin...*spoken*(I ....love....you).

If lusting after me make this a wonderful world..ok, i'll obligate, you people can lust after me ok?hahahaha

5. How can I make myself happy? 暗恋的代价 by 草蜢 (The price to pay for being secretly in love)

失眠是为了想她猜测她会爱我吗无时无刻想她可是她知道吗爱她她知道吗
(losing sleep thinking of her, guessing if she will love me too? Thinking of her now and then, wonder if she know that I love her?)

Wahhh...how do they know I make myself happy by being secretly in love??? ok ok, i confess, I have been secretly in love with those cute puppies in the pet shop at the mall. Whenever "The One" and I go to the mall, we will pop over to the pet shop to see those puppies. Guilty as charged! :P

6. What should I do with my life?I think I by Byul (Korean song – from Korean TV drama “full house”)

I think I love you 그런가봐요
(I think I love you that's how it seems)

Cause I miss you 그대만 없으면
(Cause I miss you when you're not around)

I confess, I dont understand korean but I do like the rhythm of the song and understanding the meaning of this song somehow makes me like it too. (That show "full house" too) thats why i have this in my ipod. So what should i do with my life? I think I...will continue to give love? :P

Translation from http://www.trap17.com/index.php/byul-think_t28400.html

7. What is my day going to be like? 江南 by 林俊杰 (Jiang Nan - a province in China)
Doing this tag today I really think I live in China!! This is the most chinese translation work I have to do in a day (other than when I'm in Chinese class in school that is!!) hahaha

8. What is some good advice for me? 广岛之恋 by 张洪量 与莫文蔚 (love on a deserted island)
oh yeah please please..I'm only up to no. 8??!! I want to escape to the deserted island for some nice massage with "The One"!! Hawaii island seems good

9. How will I be remembered? 后来 by 刘若英 (after)
hmmm..now that seems like an appropriate answer.."after" i pass away, I'm still remembered? that will be good enough, the good or bad about me, thats ok :)

10. What song will play at my funeral? 木乃伊 by 林俊杰 (Egyptian mummy)
HAHAHAHA how can I not laugh at this answer..Egyptian mummy at my funeral?? ok ok , pls do pre-order a place in the Egypt pyramid for me ok..thats the least u guys can do for a mummy! :P

12. What type of men do I like? 爱如潮水 by 张学友 (love like the tide)
I like men who love like the tide? Refer to no. 1 then :)

There..DONE finally!

As usual i wont tag anyone, those who have an interest in sharing with us your music, do feel free to do this tag ok :)

General Tso's Chicken but cooked by Winniethepooh

Actually, when I first posted recipe in my blog is to ensure my dear mommy, jie jie and friends that don't worry, I'm still surviving here..home away from home. Still eating properly, taking care of myself and "The One". Other than this reason, the other reason being, I just had to write the recipe somewhere, isnt it?! ;P instead of having to write in a book (and misplacing or just can't remember where I left it), I figure, the best is put it in blog (kill 2 birds with one stone)! Definitely wont go missing, will it? hehehe

So OK, hmm..missing the taste of Kung Pao Chicken, after googling and trying a few recipes; somehow didn't really taste like what I had in my memory. Until I came across the recipe, by the dish name "General Tso's Chicken". After trying a few recipes, this one somehow kinda 'matches' the taste that I was looking for ;) so here to share with you guys...

General Tso's Chicken!

Ingredients:
500g chicken breast, cubed
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup cornstarch (approx)

Sauce:
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 1/2 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 tablespoons rice wine
1.5 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 cloves garlic, minced
10-15 dried chili pods (to taste)
(original recipe only says 5, after trying, no kick at all, so I up it to 15 ;))

Method:
Chicken
Mix approx 1/2 cup of cornstarch and the eggs; add the chicken and toss to coat. (amount of cornstarch, add till you get a batter consistency)

Sauce
In a small bowl, prepare the sauce mixture by combining the 2 tsp cornstarch with the wine, vinegar, sugar and soy sauce.

First-Stage Frying: Heat 1-2 inches of oil in a wok to medium-high heat.
Fry the chicken in small batches, just long enough to cook the chicken through.
Remove the chicken to absorbent paper and allow to stand

Second-Stage Frying: Leave a tablespoon or two of the oil in the wok.
Add minced garlic and dried chili pods to the oil and stir-fry briefly, (till you can smell the aroma but don't burnt them)
Return the chicken to the wok and stir-fry for few mins.
Add the sauce-mixture to the wok, tossing over the heat until the sauce thicken and glazed the chicken.

Done!

P/s: Kung Pao chicken suppose to have cashew nuts but I didn't have, so didn't add in ;) but if you like to and have some on hand..y not :)

I signed up for PPP!

Whenever I see the word PPP in blogs, I always wonder, huh? What is PPP?

Looking around, blogs hopping, clicking around (thats what I like to do), I came to the home site of PPP. If you have not figure out what is this PPP that I am talking about, PPP= PayPerPost. Basically it means that for every post that you qualified and post in your blog, once approved, you will be paid depending on the offers provided. Ahhh..now does that make some sense to you?

I've been looking at something I can do at home to earn some cash. With a lot of work-at-home scams going around the internet everyday, hopefully, I can find something that really works and pass this great legitimate work at home info on to others who are looking for it or stay at home mom and dad to help them along too.

When I first told friends about this PPP, most of them were skeptical. "Are you sure it's safe?", "Is this for real? You will get PAID?" but I was given wise advices too. "Make sure you are telling the truth and don't lie for money sake"

I do hope that with these extra little cash, little by little, we'll save more and more for the bigger things in life.

Beautiful hand paintings

Something beautiful to share...

Italian artist Guido Daniele who lives and works in Milan, was hired by an advertising agency to create body painting of animals. "I researched each animal in depth to see how I could transfer it to a hand, and then set about bringing it to life." The hardest part of his job is watching his creations disappear down the drain after they're photographed. "I'm getting used to it," Daniele shrugs. "At least I get to start each day with a fresh canvas."

Arts is beautiful in all forms. Be it painting, music, dance, done anywhere; as long as the person or people who does/do the Arts put his mind and soul into each of his work..it will touch the soul of others.

Durian Durian...

"The One" and I was at an Asian supermarket and they were having this 'thailand fruit festival'..of course there were all the favourites Thai fruits, one of which is the King of the fruits, Durian!

As we were walking down the lane, "The One" and I had this conversation about durian...

Me: You know, durians are known as king of the fruits?

"The One": Yeah?

Me: Yeah, and mangosteen are known as queen of the fruits.

"The One" : yeah? hmm...then durians shouldn't be king of the fruits, Mango should be the king of the fruits!

I looked at "The One" and laughed..oh yeah huh..why isn't mango the king of the fruits?

The durians were selling at $0.88/lb, "The One" has never tried Durian before, so I asked "The One", 'will you want to try durian?' He was like, 'Sure, why not?' *happy me* hehehe We picked a smaller durian (incase he didn't like it), and that cost us like $6, pretty reasonable considered they 'sat on an airplane to be here'!

When we reached home, we proceed to 'dissect' our durian. Man! It wasn't easy I have to say! It wasn't as easy as those professional durian Uncles back home who open the durian in like 2 seconds flat..we had to use the cleaver and after using 'nine cow two tiger strength' did we managed to open it hehehe

After opening it did I realised there's a little tag that said, "Frozen Durian" hahaha no wonder it was so difficult to open..(At the supermarket, It wasn't kept in the freezer, it was just left in the boxes). The fruit itself, was a little fozen, taste just like eating durian ice-cream. :) "The One" had one seed, he didn't really hate it nor love it..he's like 'Ok, one will do for me..' hehehe I ate like 3 seeds and 'tabao' another 3 seeds in the tupperware to slowly savour later...I suppose "The One" still prefer his version of king of the fruits - Mango rather than my version hahaha

The Goodness of Banana

I love eating bananas..even way back in school. I guess it has to do with daddy, he loves to eat banana and that influences me too? :P Like daddy like daughter hehehe :P

During those earlier years, friends used to laugh at me (for my love of banana, sometimes friends even tease me that I'm like a monkey :P) Recently, I read an article on "Did You Know? The Goodness of Bananas" After reading this, you will know I did make a good smart choice in LOVING to eat those yellow bananas!

The goodness of bananas
Source Web

If you want a quick fix for flagging energy levels there's no better snack than a banana. Containing three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose - combined with fiber, a banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.

Research has proved that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions making it a must to add to your daily diet.

Anaemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of haemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anaemia.

Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it the perfect food for helping to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain trypotophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

Heart-Burn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body so if you suffer from heart-burn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

Mosquito Bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system. Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods such as bananas every two hours to keep levels steady.

PMS: Forget the pills, eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronic ulcer cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

Temperature Control: Many other cultures see bananas as a 'cooling' fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand, for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer, trypotophan.

Smoking: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking, as the high levels of Vitamin C, A1, B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water-balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be re-balanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

Strokes: According to research in 'The New England Journal of Medicine', eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!

Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that, if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape! So you see a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills.

When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around.

So maybe its time to change that well-know phrase so that we say, "A Banana a day keeps the doctor away!"

One Habit that just can't change

Habit does change a bit when you are in different places. Was clearing the fridge and saw these little sachets of ketchup which was left over from our fast food takeaways..

I remembered back home, when we go for fast food, my tray will always be filled with at least 5-6 packets of CHILLI sauce, never ketchup for me (I don't waste my sachets of chilli sauce huh, always finished using them) I can not understand why fast food here never have chilli sauce only ketchup (except Taco Bell, they have the hot sauces and trust me, it wasn't really that HOT. Its really liquid liquid kind, only the 'Fire' ones have a little kick.
Family and friends used to joke, "Need us to send u some McDonald chilli sachets or not?" or "bring along a bottle of chilli sauce with you when you go out" hahahah However, in our home, you will definitely find chilli in all forms (sambal olek, sweet chilli sauce, hot chilli sauce, chilli powder, dried chilli oh and of course we have the small finger chilli in the fridge too)

This is one spice that you can always find in my kitchen..I guess some habits (taste) just cant change ;)
