its a Shepherd pie...Cottage pie..its ???

Shepherd Pie is another one of those something that I always wanted to try making..Off to Google in search of my Shepherd pie. From what I read and gathered so far, its just basically Minced meat topped with mashed potatoes and baked. Tatata..so easy neh?

OK, so shepherd pie is named coz its basically using lamb or mutton and when you change that to beef, you've got Cottage pie. As I had none except pork, what do I called it then? Hmm..who cares right, so anyway, what the heck, to the Kitchen I go! (that's my humble hmm Porkie pie that I made ;))

After some modification to a recipe I seen, there are 2 parts to making the shepherds pie: A. minced meat mixture, B. mashed potato

Here is the recipe:

Preheat Oven to 375oF

A. To make minced meat mixture:
Ingredients:
500g Ground pork
1 onion chopped
1/2 cup chopped carrots
Few dashes of Worcestershire sauce (to own taste)
Pinch of Salt (to own taste)

1. Saute onions and carrot in butter until tender
2. Add ground pork, add salt and Worcestershire sauce, saute until no longer pink.
3. Remove and spread the cooked pork mixture in a baking dish.

B. To make Mashed Potatoes:
Ingredients:
3-5 Potatoes
1-2 tbsp Butter
1/4 cup Milk
Pinch of Salt (to own taste)

1. Peel and cubed the potatoes, boil in water until tender.
2. Remove, drain and mash the potatoes
3. Melt butter in large frying pan (Use medium heat, do not use high heat)
4. Added mashed potatoes, mixed well
5. Add milk slowly, pinch of salt, mixed to form a smooth paste-like texture (Note: Add slowly the amount of milk to get a smooth paste like texture, you might need less/more depending on the size of the potato you use)
6. Remove and spread mashed potato over the cooked pork mixture which was previously spread in the baking dish.

Finally, put the baking dish into the preheated Oven and baked for 30-40 mins / till browned

Tatata...your Porkie pie hehehe DONE!

Enjoy!

Cheerios and keep smiling!
